I was emailing this to intercessors or people who have
expressed an interest in learning more about intercession but the Lord told me to put it on the blog. It is time for the body to come together and armor up.
I get LOTS of prayer
requests and I am sure each of you do also. One of the things that the Lord has been talking
to me about is unity in the body. Several times lately I have gotten a request
that include 20+ people. Most of the time there is no direction.
An example is “My friend is in late stage cancer and only
has a few weeks to live. She is in a lot of pain and on all kinds of
medication. Please pray for her.”
So, what are we praying? For her to be comfortable? Against
symptoms? Healing? Quick trip home to the father? (This is not sarcasm but has actually been a request)
What is the person wanting--not what you want for the person what do they want?
We have not because we ask not but what are we asking for?
We don't receive because we ask amiss.
If Patton told the troops head across
Germany and win the war and each soldier, pilot, tank driver etc. made it their
own battle the enemy could just stand back and watch the army destroy themselves. The body of Christ has been doing this too long.
I am not negating seeking the Lord and hearing what He gives you for a battle plan but when you are in a concentrated battle make sure you are in agreement with those around you.
I hear the Lord saying that it is time to stop the infighting. Time to lay down prejudices. Time to destroy pride. Time to unify. Time to win.
Thanks Sally, This is a great point that you cant stress enough. The Word teaches very clearly, unity in action moves our Lord on our behalf.
ReplyDelete2 Chron 5:13-14 and it was the duty of the trumpeters and singers to make themselves heard in unison in praise and thanksgiving to the Lord, and when the song was raised, with trumpets and cymbals and other musical instruments, in praise to the Lord, "For he is good, for His steadfast love endures forever," the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.
and again:
ACTS 2:1-4 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues,as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
One mind, One Body, One God! Unify in purpose and PRAY!
Deborah--thank you so much for hte great addition--Just a perfect example of the unity He is talking about.

ReplyDeleteI used to always have "a plan" when I was interceding - and then I started to ask these very same questions. Now, it seems, that I have fewer words as I pray. I have fewer opinions. When we say, "Not MY will but YOURS be done", we need to hear what His will is. Sometimes it is clear in Scripture what God's will is...and so, of course, we need to know the Word, live it, and pray it. However, for every battle there is a different battle plan - sometimes we dig ditches, sometimes we march silently, sometimes we stand, sing and praise, sometimes we break pots. In every one of those situations, the WHOLE army participated in the process - unity. You are right on the money, Sally! (2 Kings 3, Joshua 6, Chronicles 20, Judges 7)
Rebecca,
DeleteI love it that you expanded my point. When someone asks me to pray I usually pray in the spirit until I hear what God wants BUT when I am asked to be a part of a concentrated effort I do ask questions.
"I am not negating seeking the Lord and hearing what He gives you for a battle plan but when you are in a concentrated battle make sure you are in agreement with those around you."
One reason for all of my questions is that I may not join in---if someone is asking me to pray their will and I do not hear that in the battle plan then I will pray for people to hear or pray in the spirit only.
The praying AGAINST each other because of pride is what I am trying to reveal.
Case in point. When Dorothy (remember her?) was in the nursing home she was screaming in pain a lot from the cancer. It had metastasized years earlier and was through her body and bones. She could not talk on the phone but people would call and ask me to pray for healing, for less pain, for peace, etc. I asked to talk to her. I could not because she could not get to the phone. Finally someone called and said she wanted me called. Her message was pray. Up to this point I had only prayed for her to be comforted and for God to show me how to pray. I went to 1 person for agreement. I said, "I need you to pray in agreement with me for a friend who has cancer and is in extreme pain." He lowered his head and prayed silently for a minute, looked at me and said, "Sometimes God takes people home." "Exactly what I heard." Wee prayed for all the soulish prayers holding her here to be broken and to none effect. we prayed for people's hearts to be healed in her passing. we prayed for her family to be saved. We prayed for her to go home quickly. She died in less than an hour.
So many people do not understand that---soulish prayers are a form of witchcraft. They do harm to people and block God's will. They are also a tool of the enemy to destroy the army of God.
LOVE YOU BECCA.
